Our projects

Every company that joins KURBI chooses a concrete local biodiversity project. No anonymous fund. No abstract sustainability programme. Rather, a tangible measure that is visibly implemented, maintained and monitored.

Each contribution supports one project for one year. Together, these projects form a growing network that strengthens the biodiversity, landscape quality and ecological resilience of the local area.

Choose how you want to make a difference

Every company has its own vision of sustainability. Some businesses want to support pollinators. Others opt for natural pest control. Yet others want to invest in water, birds or Belgian living heritage.

That is why KURBI offers various biodiversity projects.

All projects represent an annual contribution of € 1,000 excluding VAT.

Flower meadow

More flowers. More pollinators. More colour.

A flower meadow is much more than a beautiful landscape. It forms a food source for wild bees, bumblebees, butterflies and numerous other pollinators. It also enriches the landscape and creates a colourful experience for walkers and visitors.

Your contribution includes:

• creation of a flower meadow of approximately 500 m²

• management for one year

• monitoring

• reporting

Nesting boxes

A safe home for birds and small mammals.

Many bird species find it increasingly difficult to find suitable nesting sites. With this project, various nesting boxes are produced, installed and maintained, tailored to the needs of different species. Depending on the location, facilities for squirrels or other small animals can also be integrated.

Your contribution includes:

• production

• installation

• maintenance

• annual inspection

Large insect hotel

A small structure with great ecological value.

Insects play an indispensable role in our nature. They pollinate flowers, provide food for birds and contribute to a healthy ecosystem. A large insect hotel offers numerous species a safe place to shelter and nest.

Bird-of-prey lookout post

Nature as the farmer's ally.

Birds of prey are excellent natural hunters. Strategically placed lookout posts give buzzards, kestrels and other birds of prey better opportunities to spot mice and other small rodents. A simple measure with a surprisingly large impact.

Natural pond

Water brings life.

A natural pond forms a habitat for amphibians, dragonflies, water insects and numerous other species. It also creates variation in the landscape and increases the ecological value of its surroundings.

Wild nature corners

Giving space to nature.

Not every square metre needs to be intensively managed. Wild zones offer shelter to hedgehogs, insects, birds and numerous small animals. Often it is precisely these quiet places that make a surprisingly large contribution to biodiversity.

Indian Runner ducks

Natural control of slugs and snails.

Indian Runner ducks are known as efficient natural controllers of slugs and snails. They also bring life to the landscape and form a popular attraction for walkers and visitors. Their presence shows how biodiversity and agriculture can strengthen one another.

Doornikse Kriel

Belgian living heritage.

The Doornikse Kriel is one of the oldest Belgian chicken breeds. By keeping this breed visible, KURBI contributes to the preservation of valuable genetic and cultural heritage. Biodiversity, after all, is not only about wild nature, but also about historical farm breeds at risk of disappearing.

Bassette Kriel

Small in stature. Great in history.

The Bassette, too, is part of Belgium's living heritage. With this project, KURBI wants to contribute to the recognition and preservation of this special breed. A living reminder of our country's rich agricultural history.

Natural grazing

Landscape management the way nature intended.

Sheep, goats or alpacas can help manage certain vegetation naturally. Natural grazing contributes to a varied landscape and often reduces the need for mechanical management.

Bee colonies

Investing in our most important pollinators.

Bees are among the most important links in a healthy ecosystem. By supporting bee colonies, you help pollinate flowers, fruit trees and numerous other plants.

Why do companies choose a biodiversity project?

Because they know exactly where their contribution goes. Because they can visit the project. Because their employees can see the result. Because biodiversity becomes visible locally. Because one concrete action often says more than a hundred fine words.

Can you combine multiple projects?

Of course. Many companies choose to support several biodiversity projects at the same time. This creates a varied commitment that strengthens several aspects of biodiversity.

That is possible. In addition to the projects described here, other biodiversity or nature projects can also be agreed and carried out on an ad hoc basis, on request.
